Role Type: Volunteer Board Service (Unpaid)

Time Commitment: 2-3 hours/week through meetings, events, and action team efforts

Term: 3 years with option to renew for second term

Location: Greater Columbia, SC region (in-person participation expected)
 

Role Overview

Columbia Opportunity Resource is looking for energetic, committed leaders to join our Board of Directors! This is a hands-on leadership role for individuals who want to apply their skills, support COR’s programs, and help shape the future of the professional community in the Greater Columbia, SC region. 
 

This is your chance to:

• Serve the community of the greater Columbia region
• Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals
• Expand your network and connect with the region’s top movers and shakers

Board members serve on at least one action team aligned with their expertise and actively contribute to strategy and execution. Learn more about our action teams HERE.

You must be an active COR member to serve on our board. Candidates may join upon selection; membership dues are due on March 31, 2026. 
 

Open Board Seats

• Communications Action Team (2 seats open): Marketing, PR, content, brand, digital experience
• Development Action Team (2 seats open): Sales, fundraising, partnerships, development managers
• Membership Action Team (2 seats open): HR, people ops, community or customer experience
• Finance Action Team (1 seat open): Accounting, finance, budgeting, or oversight experience

Responsibilities

• Serve on at least one COR action team
• Attend board meetings (every first Wednesday of the month) and participate consistently
• Contribute hands-on work and strategic input
• Support COR programs, partnerships, and events
• Act as an ambassador for COR
